Powderpost Beetles
Powderpost BeetlesPowderpost beetles are destructive insects and can damage the structure of your home or business. Powderpost beetles have long, narrow, flat bodies, and range from a reddish-brown to almost black in color. These less than a 1/4’’ flying insects have long, colorless wings, and are most active at night. These harmful insects will make holes (about 1/8’’) in dry wood and lay their eggs where they burrow. They will create tunnels throughout the wood connecting their chambers. They break down the wood into tiny flour like powder known as frass. The larvae, also known as woodworms, are white or cream with a worm-like body in the shape of a “C”, not exceeding 1/5’’. Powderpost beetles will continue to ruin your home or business if not properly treated.
